Yesterday, on the last day of term, we held our Leavers Assemblies in both schools. We had our tissues at the ready as we said goodbye to our Y6 children whose time at Cunningham Hill has come to an end and, in the infants, we said good luck to our Y2 children who are moving on to juniors in the new school year. Every member of staff shook the hand of every child in Y2 and reassured them (and ourselves!) that we`d still see them at playtime.
After Y2 had trooped out, the current Y1 and EY children performed the Symbolic Shuffle by scooting backwards into their new assembly positions for when they return in September and have moved up a year. A momentous and emotional day!

Our lovely cook in the junior school baked our Y6 children some special goodbye/good luck cupcakes today.
We`ll be saying our final goodbyes tomorrow at our Leavers Assembly. Tissues at the ready! 😭

As the warm weather continues, the tyres and tarp, which previously formed our paddling pool, took on new life as a water play feature in our Small World Zone today.

Our PTA held their Summer Fayre today and what a super event it was! Delicious food, plenty of treats plus fun and games galore. Huge thanks to all the hard working volunteers who made it happen.

We held our OPAL Stay and Play session yesterday afternoon. The children showed their parents how we play at lunchtimes on our playgrounds, in our dens, on our mud kitchen, in our ball zone, in our shingle pit, in our small world zone, on our apparatus, in our sandpit, on our parkour, with our Large Loose Parts and lots more besides.
Despite the heat, parents were given a flavour of the freedom, creativity, adventure, problem-solving and rich play experience of an OPAL school.

Cunningham Hill Infant and Junior schools are federated county co-educational day schools. They are situated next to each other on a large site. There are approximately 180 children in the Infant school aged 4-7, and 240 children in the Junior school aged 7-11.
