SCHOOL ABSENCE & HEALTH
Absence
If your child is unwell and unable to attend school, please contact the school by 9:15am.
- For Infants please call 01727 857524 – Option 1
- For Juniors please call 01727 852911 – Option 1
Please include your child’s name and class in your message. If we are not contacted about an absent child, we will phone home to check for safety reasons.
If your child has been sick or had diarrhoea they must be absent from school for 48 hours from the last time they were ill.
Lateness
All children should be in school by 8.50am (Infants) and 8:55am (Juniors) as registration starts straight away and learning and intervention groups occur at this time. Children who arrive after registration has been completed will be marked as late.
If your child is late to school, they will need to sign-in via our electronic signing-in system at the school office. This applies for both Infants and Junior children.
Term Time Holidays
All schools are under increasingly strict guidelines from the government to reduce the number of term time holidays that are authorised. There are very few circumstances when these absences can be authorised. However, if you feel you need to request authorisation for a holiday or absence under exceptional circumstances, a form is available from the office. Requests for absence will usually require a meeting with the Headteacher and supporting evidence.
Please note that the school and County Attendance Improvement Officer have a statutory duty to follow up frequent absences or persistent lateness that may affect a child’s educational progress.
