Behaviour and Learning Mentor
At Cunningham Hill Infant and Junior Schools we are looking to appoint a Learning and Behaviour Mentor to join our support staff team. The role is for an initial 1 year contract of 4 hours per day from 10am to 2pm, with the potential that this will be extended to a permanent role after the initial year.
The right candidate will utilise their experience of working with children that have social, emotional and behavioural needs, to enable them to engage in the curriculum and have successful experiences, which prepare them for the next steps in their education. The Learning Mentor’s role will involve supporting pupils who are experiencing dysregulation and so will result in delivering support for specific children through a variety of strategies such as: class support, 1:1 or small group work, lunch and break time sessions, social groups etc. The successful candidate would work within the STEPs therapeutic approach to behaviour in order to support the children, so previous training in this is desirable but not essential as training can be provided. The role will be closely supported by our SENDco, Family support worker and SLT and liaise regularly with teachers and support staff.
Cunningham Hill Federation is a popular primary choice with a highly inclusive ethos. Colleagues work with enthusiasm to ensure that children have an enjoyable primary education, whilst aiming for high standards in all aspects of our pupils’ learning. Staff work with talented colleagues and lovely children. To get a sense of our school please watch our introductory video on our school website.
